Hidden Champions

About

Why hidden champions matter

The goal of this website and newsletter is to share stories, background and news about hidden champions.

Hidden champions — is a term coined by researcher Hermann Simon for mid-sized companies that hold the number one or two position in their global niche while staying largely unknown to the public. According to Simon, three criteria must be met in order to be considered a hidden champion; (1) the company either has to be positioned in the top three of the global market or take the top spot on its continent in terms of market share, (2) the company's revenue must not exceed $4 billion, and (3) the company must have a low level of public awareness.

This newsletter profiles one hidden champion at a time: what they make, how they came to lead in their niche, and what you can learn from them.
